People aged 50 and over are now being invited to get their life-saving Covid-19 vaccine.

Appointments can be booked at one of the following Vaccination Centres by calling 119 or online at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination

  • Saddlers Centre, Walsall.
  • Tipton Sports Academy, Sandwell
  • The Black Country Living Museum, Dudley

Take-up of the vaccine has been strong with more than 473,000 people across the Black Country and West Birmingham having had their first dose, but there are still a number of people in eligible groups who haven’t come forward.

Sally Roberts, Chief Nurse for Black Country and West Birmingham CCGs said: “We are pleased to be able to invite everyone aged 50 and over to come and get their Covid-19 vaccine.

“We want to ensure everyone in an eligible group has had the chance to get protected, especially those who are clinically vulnerable and most at risk of serious illness.

“We continue to see that some people are not taking up the offer of a vaccine, but no one will be left behind.

“I once again ask all those people with underlying health conditions, carers, health and social care and care home staff who have not yet been vaccinated against Covid-19, to contact the NHS and make an appointment now.

“If you have already been offered a jab but have not taken it up it is not too late. Please come forward and we will get you booked in”

For those that are eligible, the easiest way to arrange a vaccination is through the national booking service which can be accessed at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination

The system allows patients to choose a time slot and location that suits them.

Anyone unable to book online can call 119 free of charge, anytime between 7am and 11pm seven days a week.

NHS teams are visiting those who are housebound and cannot travel to a vaccination service.

Appointments are staggered to allow for social distancing and people are being asked not to turn up early to avoid creating queues.

Everyone will receive a health status check and a pre-vaccination assessment before they have their jab.
